Electoral Commission (Ceni)- Concertation Framework : Norbert Kantitima in work mission in Haut-Uélé Province.

 

In the presence of the Provincial Governor, during a meeting in the Bishop Odon de Wild Hall of the Cathedral of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus of Isiro, this Tuesday, December 12, the Vice-President of the electoral center in the Democratic Republic of Congo facilitated an exchange and sensitization session for the different sections of the population and stakeholders in the electoral process.

"The popularization of the Electoral Calendar, this is a strong signal that the election process is underway and its presence in the Haut-Uélé, for the popularization of the said calendar, reflects the commitment and determination of the CENI to organize credible and transparent elections, which will offer our country its first democratic alternation, "Norbert BASENGEZI, vice president of the CENI, told the press.

"The latter is the struggle for the preservation of power by the majority and the accession to power for the opposition through the ballot box," he said.

He articulated his communication in the hall Bishop Odon de Wild of the cathedral of St. Theresa of Infant Jesus of Isiro around the following three points relating to the current electoral process.

"The population must take ownership of this electoral calendar while knowing these important dates; the reform of the electoral law and the voting machine are for us the object of this awareness, "he concluded.

When the amendments adopted by the National Assembly on the electoral law, these adopted amendments relate to the replacement of the customary chief co-opted provincial deputy, the replacement of the independent vice-governor, the representativeness of the women on the electoral lists, the surety, the quotient and the threshold of representativeness.

Note that this session also saw the participation of political and administrative authorities including the President of the Provincial Assembly of Haut-Uélé the Honorable Ismaël EBUNZE Magadi, Vice-Governor Prosper MANGBUKELE, MPPs, provincial ministers and other layers of the population.

After the stage of the province of Haut-Uélé, the Vice-President of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Norbert BASENGEZI, will fly to Bunia, capital of the province of Ituri where he is expected from 9am this wednesday 13 december 2017.
